Menasheh Idafar sustained his good progress during the second day of official Formula Renault UK Championship testing at Snetterton Circuit today, Thursday, 12th March, by ending the outing inside the top 15, just seven 10ths of a second shy of the outright pace.

Slicing four 10ths of a second off his best time from Wednesday’s two sessions at the 1.95 mile track, the Hillspeed driver produced a quickest time of 1m04.985 seconds (108.13mph) this morning in dry but cloudy conditions.

On combined times for the second day, Menasheh was the sixth fastest Graduate Cup runner and was under two 10ths of a second outside the coveted top 10. Just three 10ths of a second, meanwhile, separated the British-born Bahraini from the overall top four to underline his impressive pace.

“Menasheh did a very good job once again today and we continued to make progress”, said Hillspeed team boss Richard Ollerenshaw, “We ran on new tyres this morning but during the afternoon session there wasn’t any point using another set. It’s been a positive couple of days for Menasheh, he’s making good steps forward and is doing an exceptional job.”

Lapping inside the existing Snetterton race lap record for Formula Renault UK, the teenage racer also concluded this week’s two day test just four 10ths of a second away from last year’s pole position time at the Norfolk track.

Menasheh, who celebrates his 18th birthday tomorrow, Friday, 13th March, will make his next appearance at the wheel of his FR 2.0 single-seater on Wednesday, 18th March, at Oulton Park Island Circuit in Cheshire for the fourth official group test of the Formula Renault UK Championship pre-season.
