Single-seater racer Menasheh Idafar had his latest run in a Formula Renault UK car at Oulton Park Island Circuit in Cheshire yesterday, Friday, 26th September, and concluded the outing with yet another strong performance.
Running on old tyres and trying a variety of settings throughout the day, the British-born Bahraini ended the run at the wheel of his Hillspeed-run car with a best time of 1m 20.2 seconds and he was pleased with his progress.
Menasheh’s driver coach, British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star Matt Shawyer said: “It’s been another productive day, we tried a few different things and Menasheh said everything felt good and he had no problems. It’s important for him to continue racking up the test miles and we’re all very happy with his performance.”
BARC season finale next weekend
Menasheh’s next race action will actually take place a week from now, 4th/5th October, at Silverstone National Circuit in Northamptonshire during the final event of the 2008 Formula Renault BARC Championship.
Heading into the last two races of the year, rounds 11 and 12, the promising youngster is fourth overall in the driver standings and still has a realistic chance of ending only his second full season of car racing in the coveted top three.
To date he has scored four podiums, two fourth places and a further top six finish while also achieving four pole position starts. At Silverstone just over a week from now, the Hillspeed racer is hoping to end the season on a high.
Following pre-event testing on Friday, 3rd October, qualifying for round 11 will take place at 09.30 on Saturday, 4th October, with the round 12 session following at around 12.30.
Both races are timetabled for Sunday, 5th October, with round 11 beginning at 12.00 and round 12 getting underway at approximately 16.40. Each encounter is scheduled to be contested over a distance of 14 laps.
