Valencia in Spain became the latest venue on Menasheh Idafar’s winter test schedule this week as the teenage racer re-joined crack Eurocup Formula Renault team Epsilon Euskadi.
Having made his European debut at Le Mans in France last month with Epsilon, Menasheh took his maiden mileage at Valencia on Monday, 15th December, before concluding his pre-Christmas test programme today, Tuesday, 16th December.
Learning the Spanish circuit on the opening day of testing in very cold yet bright conditions, the 17-year-old British-born Bahraini made great strides forward during today’s run. His highlight performance came in session three where he posted the ninth fastest time.
An impressive effort, particularly considering he was testing alongside over 30 other Eurocup Formula Renault runners, his quickest lap time was just a few 10ths of a second shy of the best of all. Just one extra 10th of a second would have lifted Menasheh into the top six!
“It’s been a good couple of days, everything went well and Menasheh improved very nicely over the course of the test”, commented driver coach and former British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star Matt Shawyer, “There were 25 cars on track on Monday and then 32 today so there has been plenty of very tough competition out there.
“Menasheh did well, the third session today was his best run with the ninth fastest time and he has certainly learnt a lot over the last two days. It’s been a very good year and we’re looking forward to a short break over Christmas now before embarking on more testing in the New Year.”
