Formula Renault UK newcomer Menasheh Idafar produced a strong testing performance at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit today, Thursday, 19th February, during his second outing of the week at the wheel of his Hillspeed-run car.
With an improvement in weather compared to yesterday’s test at Rockingham near Corby, today’s action saw the British-born Bahraini make very good progress as official pre-season testing edges ever closer.
Alongside Hillspeed team-mate Michael Lyons, Menasheh produced some strong lap times on the 3.2-mile track and concluded the day happy with his performance. His best lap of 1m 47.5 seconds was compromised to some extent but overall the test was very positive.
Richard Ollerenshaw, Hillspeed team principal, said: “Today went very well and Menasheh produced a good performance once again. Obviously there are no points or prizes to be gained during testing but we’re pleased with the progress we’re making and looking forward to another good run at Thruxton tomorrow.”
Hillspeed, along with the majority of other Formula Renault UK teams, is taking the chance to benefit from some rare mileage at Hampshire’s Thruxton Circuit tomorrow, Friday, 20th February, which will host rounds three and four of the Formula Renault UK Championship in late April.
With testing at Thruxton seriously limited due to local authority restrictions, tomorrow’s run will be especially important for Menasheh as he continues to explore the limits of his brand new FR 2.0 single-seater.
