Formula Renault UK Winter Championship racer Menasheh Idafar continued his preparations for the forthcoming four-round series this week alongside Manor Competition team-mates Thomas Hylkema and Robert Foster-Jones at Pembrey in South Wales.
Having made his track debut in Manor colours at Rockingham in Northamptonshire, the venue for the final two rounds of the upcoming Winter Championship, during the previous week, 18-year-old Menasheh returned to action at Pembrey on Thursday, 22nd October for an intensive two-day outing.
Taking guidance from team driver coach Rob Bell on the first day and Adriano Buzaid on day two, Friday, 23rd October, the British-born Bahraini gleaned a vast amount of experience from both. This was especially true concerning Menasheh’s wet-weather driving technique which improved markedly throughout the second day.
“I learned so much during this week’s test”, said the Ortolan and Gulf Computer Services backed driver, “Rockingham went really well but I think the last two days have been even more useful for me. My times in the dry and the wet were competitive so I’m really happy and it was great working with Rob again and also Adriano, their experience was a huge help.”
The opening two rounds of the 2009 Formula Renault UK Winter Championship will be held next Saturday, 31st October, at Snetterton in Norfolk with the third and fourth rounds following at Rockingham a week later.
Before then, Menasheh will be back on in action during a three-day test outing at Snetterton as part of his build-up for the winter series curtain-raiser. Testing will commence on Wednesday, 28th October and will continue throughout Thursday, 29th October and Friday, 30th October.
